Worst theater customer service I've ever experienced. The new reclining seats are nice but don't make up for the total apathy of everyone who works there.
Ever since the seat update and conversion to AMC, I've been to Market Square quite a few times! I've been a member of the AMC Stubs/Premiere program for quite a few years. As a result, we did not go to the theater in DeKalb all that often. When the changeover happened, we switched back. Firstly, there's the AMC aspect of the change: ability to reserve seating, rewards on ticket/snack purchases - that's why we started going to AMC. Secondly, the updated theater is so comfortable. The theater seats are nice and comfortable. The theater is usually chilly, so I usually take an extra sweatshirt with me (and I usually am hot all the time). The downsides to this theater are the crazy long lines EVERYWHERE. There's no kiosk to print out passes, and they can't scan tickets on your phone - so you have to wait in line somewhere. There may be two people at the ticket counter, but usually one of those is not working. You can also print out tickets at concessions - but the lines there are usually longer. Go to matinees, and snacks are almost affordable. There are dedicated Premiere lines (for those who pay the annual fee), but every time I'm there, the employees don't see you because the line is too far off to the side.
I have spent a lot of years working in retail and customer service. I don't expect every business to run perfectly, or for my every need and desire to be met 100%. What I do expect, however, is for a business to at least pretend they care about my experience as a customer.
You can't miss at this theatre. The new food options are yummy and the seats are great. They are much bigger (longer) than other theatres in the area. I really like what they've done with the place!
I like the renovations and the cleanliness has improved, but it is still TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE. It cost me $30 for admission, a drink and popcorn! And it was just ME! I couldn't imagine how much it would cost to bring a family here and have the typical movie experience. Eat before you go...to Sycamore Theatre, which is honestly light-years better.

Twice now we have been directed to the concession stand to buy movie tickets because the ticket booth computers weren't working. This means a 10-15 minute wait in line while they try to sell popcorn to everyone trying to buy tickets. Showing up to the theater 15 minutes in advance used to be plenty of time, but last time we were here we almost missed the start of the movie due to the long ticket line. To top it off, once they were able to start up the ticketing computer again, they took the BACK half of the line and redirected them to the ticket booth to buy their tickets. The rest of us who had been waiting for 15 minutes were left to stand in the concession line.
It is much better experience going now that they have updated the seating and concessions. However, it is still extremely over priced. and the whole picking your seat when you buy a ticket takes to much time and is unnecessary
